Jordi Torres joined Joe Rascal Racing almost halfway through the season, but from the moment he walked into the garage, it felt as though he had always been part of the team.
Jordi arrived with a larger-than-life personality, an infectious energy and a way of making everyone around him feel immediately at ease. From the very beginning, it was impossible not to love him.
When his arrival was announced, it sent something of a shockwave through the paddock. Everywhere we went, people stopped us to tell us how excited they were to see Jordi back. They spoke about how much they loved him, how much they had missed him and how happy they were to have him in the paddock again.
It didn't take us long to understand exactly why. Because to know Jordi is to love Jordi.
He had the entire team laughing constantly. He barely sat still, was always in the middle of whatever was happening and, despite being one of the most accomplished riders in the paddock, never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone around him. Whether it was helping a team member, sharing a laugh or simply bringing some much-needed energy to a long day at the track, Jordi was always there.
He clicked with Archie and Eric almost instantly. The three of them became a force of their own, and it quickly became clear that Jordi belonged in the team.
But Jordi's impact wasn't limited to what happened away from the track. He made his presence felt on it, too.
He arrived at Assen with just 40 minutes of testing to familiarise himself with the bike before the race weekend. Despite the limited preparation, he went straight out and delivered a P5 and P4.
At Silverstone, he showed us even more of what he was capable of. He secured P4 in Race 1 before claiming his first Joe Rascal Racing podium with a brilliant P3 in Race 2, the weekend that saw the team achieve a Joe Rascal Racing podium sweep. Then came Aragon, where Jordi delivered two more P4 finishes.
For the final round of the season in Austria, Jordi will step away from the Bagger World Cup to compete in the FIM Endurance World Championship
As Chief Rascal puts it: there is a reason Jordi is a multi-time World Champion. His talent speaks for itself, but it was his character that left the biggest impression on us. In an incredibly short amount of time, Jordi became an integral part of our team. He brought leadership, experience and professionalism, but more importantly, he showed us what it means to be an unselfish teammate. We wish Jordi all the best in his final round of Enduro. Jordi will be missed within the team, both professionally and personally. We are very proud to call Jordi a Rascal. And, of course, we will miss Kiki too.
While we are incredibly proud to see him take on another challenge, there is no denying that the paddock and our team will feel very different without him.
Thank you, Jordi, for becoming part of our family.
Once a Rascal, always a Rascal.
